The Business

Wiredog manufactures hand-made electric guitars in Bude, Cornwall. Styled to have a relaxed, beach, surf, cool-dude vibe - 60's colours, traditional pick guards, whammy bars, bridges, controls, pick-ups, etc. Finished in brand colours and details. They are gorgeous looking axes.

The Identity

Full brand - taking cues from the  Californian, 1960's, sun-drenched, palm tree, king of the surf guitar (Dick Dale), but refined enough for the Cornish surf scene (a little drizzle, a bit more cloud) - covering logo, imagery, use of colour, combinations, fonts, palette, stationery and other applications. The trick was to evoke, not to pastiche.

Design Options

Initial request was for a logo to be encased - lock-up style of mark, possibly with perimeter style logotype with a rough, washed-out, bleached look. The options focused around styling the different eras of the sixties (bubblegum, beach boys, surf-electric, psychedelic).
